Janis Palma is currently a third-year student in the Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design (RCID) PhD program of the Interdisciplinary Studies Department at Clemson University. She holds an undergraduate degree in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Arts in Puerto Rican and Caribbean History and Literature from the Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe, and Master in Legal Studies (MLS) from Arizona State University. Her research interests include language justice, epistemologies of silence, and feminist history of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
